Robert Szymeczko running the London Marathon

As well as training at the Lewisham Shotokan Karate Centre, Robert Szymeczko is taking on another demanding physical and mental challenge. He has decided to up his running to the next level by taking part in this year's London Marathon. Robert will be raising money for the Seafarers Charity as part of the run.

He will also proudly represent Lewisham Shotokan Karate Centre by wearing his green belt during the run. Robert started Karate started a year and a half ago and even manged to win medals during a recent competition.

Robert has an in-depth knowledge of the challenges of seafaring. He worked at sea for more than 12 years, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. The family connections gives him an deep understanding of having loved ones at sea, and now supports Seafarers in an administrative role.
